šŸŽØ Could Your Passion for Design Pay the Bills? Let’s Talk Etsy.

You ever sit back with a cup of coffee and dream about turning your creativity into more than just a weekend hobby? That's exactly where I found myself one morning. I looked around my kitchen, saw my designs piling up, and thought…

"Could this really be something more?"

It turns out, yes, it really could.

Starting out on Etsy was like learning to ride a bike on a bumpy road - a little awkward and with more than a few stumbles. I remember wrestling with those first listings for hours, questioning my sanity. But let me tell you, once I got the hang of it, things just clicked. And if I can figure it out… trust me, so can you.

When I opened my shop, naming it was tougher than naming a pet.

Fun fact - it took me 6 days to finally give my new dog a name.

You know that feeling, right? After getting some fun ideas from ChatGPT, I finally landed on a name that felt just right. Seriously, don’t let that part bog you down - you can always tweak it later.

In this edition, I am going to cover how I went from 0 to 100 selling digital products on Etsy šŸš€

Craft Your Listing Like You’re Showing It to a Friend

Here’s something that made a huge difference for me: presentation is key.

Imagine showing your best friend your artwork; that’s the vibe you want in your listings. I found Freepik for mockups and Photopea for editing, and they totally transformed my listings without burning a hole in my pocket.

You can also use Photopea for building mockups and Canva for editing and mockups if that is something that you are more comfortable with.

šŸ Where the Buzz Meets the Bucks

As I sank deeper into the Etsy universe, I stumbled upon some trends that were just too irresistible to pass up:

Getting Seen and Getting Sold

I used to think SEO was this big, scary beast. But really, it’s about getting creative with words. I watched what the top sellers were doing with their titles and did a little mix-and-match with my own flairs. Trust me, naming your products well is worth the extra latte or two it takes to find the perfect words.

Etsy favors SEO in the product title rather than the description.

You can also use this free chrome extension to analyze shops that are doing well: EverBee

It’s also worth noting that Etsy is a marketplace with roughly 500 million visits per month… If you analyze shops that are doing well and learn from them, you are guaranteed to gain free traffic.

Patience and Pricing - The Two P's of Success

Setting prices was like finding the right temperature for your coffee - tricky, but worth the effort. Pricing right, combined with running thoughtful sales, taught me a lot about drawing in curious buyers.

Being patient was the name of the game. The first few sales might trickle in like a gentle rain, but if you stick to it and keep those creative juices flowing, the sun does shine.

🧐 Motivation Corner

Let your Etsy adventure be driven by curiosity and joy. Every listing you create isn’t just another item for sale… it’s a new chapter in your story. Keep playing, keep exploring, and let the magic unfold.

Have faith that your next digital masterpiece could light up someone’s day and bring a smile to their face.

Until next time, keep learning, keep dreaming, and keep crafting your story. ā˜•
